Marco Neer
2024 Whipple Writing Fellow
Marco Neer ‘26 loves to write! He opines for The Cypress, the high school’s student newspaper, where he seeks controversial article topics and cleans up at the Egyptian Rat Slap table. He has been playing the cello since he was four but still doesn’t practice enough—he often spends too much time at the soccer field. In his spare time, Marco spars at his Taekwondo school, builds hyper-specific music playlists, and goes on romantic evening walks with his dog, Typhoon (during which he first discovered his topic). He hopes his writing will encourage fellow Brookline residents to recognize and fix the problems in their town. If nothing else, he wants his words to stick with everyone who reads them. Marco was thrilled when he was accepted to the fellowship and looks forward to spending the summer with a fun, talented group of people!
